Abby L. Ferber,  Professor of Sociology, and Women’s and Ethnic Studies, is also the co-founding Director of the Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and The Matrix Center’s signature programs: The Knapsack Institute: Transforming Teaching and Learning

Ferber’s teaching, writing and service all coalesce around issues of privilege and oppression from an intersectional perspective. She has authored or co-authored dozens of articles and book chapters, many of which have been reprinted numerous times. Her books include: Privilege: A Reader, Home Grown Hate, White Man Falling: Race, Gender and White Supremacy, and many others.

She writes for both academics and the general public. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the CU Elizabeth Gee Memorial Lectureship Award, and the Chase Community Service Award. She is a sought-after public speaker, and presents frequent keynotes, workshops and trainings. She is strongly committed to public and professional service. She has served on the founding Board of three non-profits.
